Graduate Student Resources 

 

The following information pertains to current A&A graduate students and provides various resources and details relevant to their experience at UC San Diego.

  • Graduate Student Portal is for all official communication with Division of Graduate Education and Postdoctoral Affairs (GEPA), e.g., official letters and student requests and forms.
  • UC San Diego Departmental Grad Programs, like the Astronomy Ph.D. program, adhere to the GEPA Policies & Procedures. Note that this page includes information on “Academic Standing”, “Probation”, “Leave of Absence”, “Incomplete Grades”, etc.
  • Grading Policies that apply to UC San Diego Department programs. The Satisfactory/ Unsatisfactory (S/U) Grade Option is unique to graduate students. For our Astro program S/U are allowed on seminar and research credit courses, but for courses that apply to the program degree requirements should be taken for a letter grade. 
  • All Graduate Student Researchers (GSR) and Academic Student Employees (ASE) are required to report vacation and sick time via Ecotime Campus Timekeeping (this commenced as of Oct 2023).
  • Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) is an excellent resource for undergraduate and graduate students that offers counseling, as well as weekly events and resources.

  • Center for Student Involvement has a list of student organizations and clubs per academic year.
  • LGBTQIA+ Resource Center at UC San Diego has monthly events and resources on getting involved with communities.
