Accommodations
OSD Eligibility
Eligibility
Students who are eligible for modifications, adjustments and other accommodations intended to minimize the impact of a documented disability must obtain an Authorization for Accommodation (AFA) letter through the Office for Students with Disabilities (OSD). Please follow the UC San Diego OSD instructions for scheduling an appointment for OSD accommodations: Requesting Accommodations.
As a friendly reminder, students must request accommodations for their classes at the start of each quarter. Accommodations do not automatically roll over each quarter, and must be renewed.
OSD Communication to Department
Communication of OSD Accommodations
Students are required to send the current quarter Authorization for Accommodation (AFA) letter electronically to both the course instructor and the A&A OSD Liaison at the beginning of the quarter, or as soon as the AFA letter is issued. Electronic delivery of AFA letters is done through the My OSD Student Portal.
Note that even though AFAs are delivered electronically, the student is still responsible for speaking with the instructor and the A&A Department Liaison to arrange for accommodations. The A&A Liaison must have an electronic copy of the AFA letter on file before the student will receive any exam accommodations.
The A&A OSD Liason is Dani Magat (d1magat@ucsd.edu).
OSD Accommodations for Exams
Scheduling an Exam with Accommodations
The Triton Testing Center (TTC) will provide secure testing services to students who need to take their paper-based tests outside the time and space constraints of the classroom if they have been approved by the instructor with an AFA letter from OSD. If you have an AFA letter from OSD that provides exam accommodations, students need to sign up at least 3 business days prior to any exam to ensure the Triton Testing Center (TTC) are able to secure adequate staffing and provide everything needed for accommodations.
OSD exam accommodations are only for in-person exams. Students who have classroom accommodations not related to exams will need to work directly with the class instructor to receive accommodations.
Faculty/instructors will find more information on registering at The Triton Testing Center (TTC) website.
