Welcome to A&A!
Welcome to the Department of Astronomy and Astrophysics at the University of California, San Diego! The major and minor programs in Astronomy and Astrophysics (A&A) are open to all students interested in pursuing a STEM degree with a focus on astrophysical sciences, and the majors are not capped. Sample course plans for both freshmen and transfer students are available on our website.
Orientations
The A&A department hosts remote and in-person orientation and informational sessions throughout the year. Please click here to join the A&A mailing list for future updates and announcements.
Upcoming 2024/2025 Events:
- New Student Orientation, Fall 2024: We will host first year and transfer student orientation for A&A majors on Monday, September 30, 5:00 - 7:00 pm in the Price Center Bear Room.
- Continuing Student Orientation, Fall 2024: Current continuing students in A&A will have an orientation on October 2, 5:00 - 7:00 pm in SERF 383.
- Triton Day, Spring 2025: Triton Day is an opportunity to learn more about being a student in our department and you will get the chance to meet our Chemistry Undergraduate Advising team. Triton is scheduled for March and April 2025. More info soon.
